New horizons: Expanding cooperation in the field of green technologies.

Great attention is paid to ecology all over the world and work is being actively carried out to introduce environmental certification of products and services.The purpose of environmental certification is to ensure the safety of products for the consumer and the environment.

This issue was devoted to the last round table, which was attended by representatives of the Association of Private Tourism Agencies of Uzbekistan (APTA) and the State Unitary Enterprise "Certification Center for Sports and Tourism Services" under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan. A joint work plan was discussed within the framework of the project "A Model for Sustainable Tourism in Central Asia: building capacities, creating awareness, introducing technology". This project is being implemented as part of the European Union's "Switch Asia" initiative and is designed to increase the tourism potential of the countries of Central Asia.
Gairat Gaziev, an expert on sustainable tourism, spoke in detail about the project and the work done within its framework.

Participants were also informed about the “LEIMINTE” program used to collect and manage data for environmental certification, as well as reporting on the “HCMI” (Hotel Carbon Metering Initiative) certification.

During the negotiations, the parties noted that eco-certification is a relatively new direction for the tourism industry in Uzbekistan. Thus, specific agreements were reached on the joint work of the APTO and the State Unitary Enterprise "Certification Center for Sports and Tourism Services" within the framework of this project, in particular, work will be intensified on the preparation of eco-certification accommodation facilities. The parties will also actively begin joint work on the introduction of green technologies in the country's hotel business.

APTA, in turn, will begin work on attracting foreign experts in the field of standardization to develop standards.
