Ecotourism: A seminar was held on the protection of the biological diversity of the mountainous territories of Uzbekistan in the implementation of economic activities

On May 6 this year, in the capital of greenhouse in the Botanical Garden named after Academician F.N. Rusanov, was held an information and analytical seminar “International Year of Mountains-2022 and current issues of protecting the biological diversity of mountain territories in the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

The year 2022 has been declared by the United Nations as the International Year of the Mountains to raise awareness about the problem of protecting the flora and fauna of mountain ecosystems, which are becoming especially vulnerable due to the active development of infrastructure, tourism, mining and other activities.

The event was organized with the support of the International Ecological Network ZOI, the CEPF Foundation, as well as the company in the field of ecology and sustainable development MAINS UNIT LLC and the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan.

Representatives of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, the Association of Private Tourist Organizations of Uzbekistan, the Society for the Protection of Birds of Uzbekistan, JV LLC "Amirsoy", "MS Consult" took part in the information and analytical seminar dedicated to the protection of the biological diversity of the mountainous territories of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the course of economic activities.

Ludwig Frank, adviser to the head of the Association of Private Tourist Organizations of Uzbekistan, made a presentation on “Best practices of ecological tourism in Uzbekistan: problems and solutions”.

During the seminar, the practices and prospects of ecological tourism were discussed, including in protected natural areas containing habitats of vulnerable and rare biological species. The participants received valuable information and took part in the development of recommendations and proposals on sustainable tourism and nature management practices.
