1.2 million tourists visited Uzbekistan in the first quarter

The number of tourists visiting Uzbekistan in January-March decreased by 12% and amounted to 1.2 million people. Most of them (87.9%) came to visit their relatives, 9.3% - for travel.
The number of foreign citizens who visited Uzbekistan for tourism in January-March amounted to 1.2 million people. Compared to the same period in 2019, this indicator decreased by 12%, according to the report of the State Committee on Statistics.
Of these, 87.9% entered Uzbekistan to visit relatives, 9.3% - for travel, 1.2% - for medical treatment, 0.7% - for business needs, 0.6% - for a commercial trip, 0.3 % - for studies.
The number of arrivals from the CIS countries amounted to 1.16 million people (95.6%), from non-CIS countries - 53.6 thousand people (4.4%).
The largest flow of foreign citizens was noted from Kazakhstan (397.6 thousand people), Tajikistan (332.7 thousand), Kyrgyzstan (298.1 thousand), Russia (64.7 thousand), Turkmenistan (60.6 thousand), Azerbaijan ( 2 thousand) and Belarus (1.2 thousand).
From the far abroad, a significant flow was observed from Turkey (13.5 thousand people), South Korea (5.2 thousand), China (3.7 thousand), India (3.6 thousand), Japan (1.3 thousand) and France (0.9 thousand).
The main contingent of foreign citizens who entered were persons aged 31−55 years - 53.1%, 19−30 years old - 19.5%, 56 years and older - 19.4%, 0−18 years old - 8%.
The number of Uzbek citizens who left the country for tourism in the first quarter of the year amounted to 1.4 million people. The indicator decreased by 16.7% compared to the same period last year.
Of these, 1.33 million people (92.7%) left for the CIS countries, and 104.3 thousand people (7.3%) went to the far abroad.
