The delegation of the UN Foundation Congress visited Uzbekistan
The delegation of the Congress of the United Nations Foundation visited the tourist village of Konigil (Samarkand) they visit Uzbekistan to get acquainted with the potential of CBT tourism development.
During the visit, the delegation went on an excursion to the Meros factory in the village of Konigil, where the famous Samarkand paper is made by hand using ancient technologies. The guests also took part in a master class on making Samarkand cakes and listened to the performance of a folklore ensemble.
Also, representatives of the Congress studied several guest houses, looked at the conditions created for foreign guests to stay in them. A fruitful dialogue took place with the Chairman of the Association of Private Tourism Organizations of Uzbekistan, the team USAID's Future Growth Initiative, which supports the development of community-based tourism (CBT). At the end of the visit, a high assessment was given to the work of the APTA and the USAID's Future Growth Initiative the development of CBT tourism, in particular family guest houses.
