World Bank to help develop aviation policy

The new agreements provide for assistance to the government in the development of national aviation policies and strategies for the development of various segments of civil aviation. This process will be carried out in close cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, the Civil Aviation Agency, Uzbekistan Airways and Uzbekistan Airports, as well as with other ministries and departments.
"A safe, reliable and efficient aviation sector is an important driver for the development of trade, business and tourism in the country," said Hideki Mori, head of the World Bank office in Tashkent.
Currently, the investment portfolio of the World Bank in Uzbekistan includes 21 projects totaling US $ 3.5 billion. They cover the spheres of macroeconomic policy, agriculture, energy, transport, health, education, water supply and sanitation, social protection of the population, as well as urban and rural infrastructure.
On January 28, Uzbekistan Airways celebrated the 28th anniversary of the company. The airline plans to expand the geography of flights, modernize the aircraft fleet, attract investments, introduce modern technologies and improve the quality of services for passengers.
