Uzbekistan has become a partner country of the largest arts festival

From 1 to 16 February, the Indian state of Haryana will host one of the largest handicraft festivals in Asia - "Surajkund Mela". Over a million artisans and visitors from more than 60 countries of the world take part in it every year.

"Surajkund Mela" is a stylized fair with pavilions that showcase the applied arts from around the world. According to the concept, every year one state of India is chosen as the theme of the festival, and one of the foreign countries is chosen as a partner country. This format allows attracting the attention of a certain state to the art, traditions, culture and gastronomy of the country.

For Uzbekistan, as a partner country, the festival provides an opportunity to widely demonstrate achievements in traditional handicrafts, national art, folklore and tourist attraction. About 60 masters of applied arts, delegations of Samarkand, Khorezm and Bukhara regions from musicians, performers, representatives of culture, cooks of traditional dishes and official circles are expected to participate. The pavilions of Uzbekistan and cultural events within the framework of the festival are organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Delhi, the State Committee for Tourism, the Tashkent Chamber of Commodity Producers, the Hunarmand Association, regional hokimiyats and a number of partners.

Within the framework of participation in the festival, a series of events dedicated to the cultural heritage of the Uzbek people are envisaged: "Day of Uzbek culture", "Day of national cuisine of Uzbekistan", demonstration of the collection "Ferghana Fantasy" of the famous Indian designer and ambassador of culture of Uzbekistan to India Ritu Beri, performances by masters of art of Uzbekistan and many others.

The Surajkund Mela Festival is held annually by the Ministry of Tourism of the State of Haryana with the assistance of the Ministries of Tourism, Culture, Textiles and Foreign Affairs of India.
