Silk Road Visa Launch Expected Before Year End

The Silk Road project, which provides for the introduction of a common visa for foreign tourists in Central Asian countries, may be launched by the end of 2020, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development Aziz Abdukhakimov said at a press conference on February 12.
In August 2019, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved a roadmap for the development of tourism in the country by decree. In particular, the document provided for the launch in February 2020 of a single Silk Road visa regime for tourists traveling to the countries of the Great Silk Road.
"Everything is fine. We will have this project by the end of the year, ”said Aziz Abdukhakimov, answering the question about the timing of the launch of the Silk Road visa.
The Vice Prime Minister added that the other day, negotiations were held with representatives of Kazakhstan, where the organizational and technical aspects of the launch of a new product were considered. “We are working quite productively now,” said Aziz Abdukhakimov.
Earlier it was planned that at the first stage the project would include, in addition to Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan.
