APTA hosted training seminars “Sustainable tourism for beginners” and “Introduction to the Good Travel Seal standard”

From April 22 to 24 this year, three-day training seminars for consultants “Sustainable tourism for beginners” and “Introduction to the Good Travel Seal standard” were held in Tashkent.

The events were organized by the Association of Private Tourism Agencies of Uzbekistan (APTA) within the framework of the USAID Future Growth Initiative Project.

The trainings were conducted by European experts - Anula Galewska and Anastasia Shkarupa, who shared their observations and experience in the field of tourism development. Seminar participants - future tourism consultants - received valuable knowledge on a wide range of topics.

These included important aspects related to tourism such as sustainable procurement, social responsibility, cultural heritage, environmental management, energy and climate, water management, waste management, pollution, nature conservation and many others.

The first two days of the training were devoted to theoretical study of this topic, while on the third day an on-site practical session was organized. The participants conducted a development audit of the hotel, which showed that they applied the acquired knowledge in practice.

The training course ended with an exam and presentation of projects for the participants. Based on the results of completing the training, APTA consultants were awarded, confirming their qualification certificates in the field of tourism.

These training seminars were an important step towards forming a network of professionals capable of promoting the development of tourism in Uzbekistan and beyond, expanding the horizons of opportunities to improve the environmental, social and economic development of the region.
