Timur Ishmetov appointed Minister of Finance, Jamshid Kuchkarov - Head of the Ministry of Economy

Timur Ishmetov, who worked as the first deputy head of the Ministry of Finance, was appointed Minister of Finance. Jamshid Kuchkarov retained the post of Deputy Prime Minister and became Minister of Economy and Industry. Botir Khodjaev has been appointed advisor to the Prime Minister for Industry and Cooperation.
Timur Amindzhanovich Ishmetov has been appointed Minister of Finance of Uzbekistan, a source in the government told Gazeta.uz. This became known at a conference call chaired by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.
Timur Ishmetov (born 1979) graduated from the Faculty of Finance and Credit of the Tashkent Financial Institute (2000), a master's degree from the University of Birmingham in International Money and Banking (2005) and the Faculty of Law of the Tashkent University of Law (2007).
He began his career in 2000 as an economist at the Central Bank, where he held various positions, including the head of the Department of Monetary Operations, the Department of International Reserves Management, the Department of Operations in the Domestic Foreign Exchange Market and the Department of Foreign Exchange Regulation and Control of the Central Bank. In 2017-2019, he worked as First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank. Since May 2019, he served as First Deputy Minister of Finance.
Jamshid Anvarovich Kuchkarov, who has worked since November 2017 as Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Finance, became Deputy Prime Minister for Financial and Economic Affairs and Poverty Reduction - Minister of Economy and Industry.
Jamshid Kuchkarov (born in 1964) graduated from the Tashkent Institute of National Economy (1985) and the Colorado State Economic Institute (1996). PhD in Economics. He held the posts of Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank (1996-1997), Deputy Minister of Finance - Head of the Main Directorate of the State Budget of the Ministry of Finance (1997-2005), Deputy Minister of Finance (2005-2016), First Deputy Minister of Finance (until 2017).
The previous head of the Ministry of Economy since November 2017, Botir Asadillayevich Khodzhaev, became an adviser to the Prime Minister for Industry and Cooperation.
Botir Khodjaev (1956) - graduated from the Tashkent Institute of Railway Engineers (1979). Over the years, he worked as the State Adviser to the President on Social and Economic Issues (2005-2006), twice the Minister of Economy (2006-2009 and 2017-2019), Deputy Prime Minister - Chairman of the State Committee for Architecture and Construction (2009-2011), the first Deputy Minister of Economics (2011-2016), Minister of Finance (2016-2017).
Former adviser to the prime minister for industry and cooperation, Nodir Sobirovich Otazhonov retained the post of chairman of the board of "Uzagrotekhsanoathholding" JSC.
Candidates for the post of ministers must be approved by the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, and then approved by a presidential decree.
