Training for sustainable tourism experts

The new project “MOST - A model for sustainable tourism in Central Asia: Building Capacities, Creating Awareness, Introducing technology”, which is being implemented as part of the European Union initiative "Switch Asia", aims to increase the tourism potential of the countries of the Central Asian region. In Uzbekistan, the Association of private tourism agencies of Uzbekistan (ATTO) was selected as the executing organization for the project. The project funded by the European Union is being implemented in the following regions of Uzbekistan: Samarkand, Bukhara, Khorezm and Tashkent city.

The active use of "green" technologies and the availability of eco-certification have a positive effect on the image of the hotel business, is a powerful marketing tool, serves to increase guest loyalty and contributes to generating additional profits. The strategic goal of the project is to raise environmental awareness and introduce appropriate practices and technologies in the hotel business in Central Asia. As part of the implementation of project tasks, it is planned to provide methodological and technical support to accommodation facilities by providing relevant knowledge and ICT tools.

An important element and legacy of the project is the preparation of a competent coaching staff who will be able to train specialists after the end of the project. This means that the level of "sustainable tourism" in the Republic of Uzbekistan will steadily increase.

To implement the project tasks, at the first stage, applications from participants in training sessions were collected and a training course for the coaching staff was organized, which is held in the format of webinars. The webinars started on Monday and will run for 4 days. GSTC training for sustainable tourism, relevant standards and green procurement to improve competitiveness. Specialists receive additional knowledge on the topics of environmental management in tourism enterprises.
