Uzbekistan is promoting the candidacy of the city of Samarkand to host the 25th session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization in 2023

At the initiative of the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili, a meeting was held in Madrid with permanent representatives of the UNWTO member countries.

The event was attended by the heads of more than 90 diplomatic missions of foreign countries in Madrid.

In order to promote the candidacy of the city of Samarkand as the venue for the 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly in 2023, the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UNWTO, Ambassador Zhakhongir Ganiev informed the participants about the progress of the work carried out by the Uzbek side to create modern infrastructure and logistics in the city of Samarkand, and also spoke in detail about the reforms carried out by the leadership of our country on the development of the tourism sector.

In his address, the Ambassador urged to support the candidacy of the city during the upcoming elections on December 2.

In turn, a number of heads of diplomatic missions welcomed Uzbekistan's initiative to nominate the city of Samarkand for the UNWTO General Assembly in 2023 and expressed their support.
