Cross-border CBT tours: A round table was held for business associations of Central Asia

On December 1 this year, in Tashkent, at the International Hotel, a round table was held on the topic “New initiatives for cross-border tours with a focus on community-based tourism (CBT) for business associations of Central Asia.
 
The round table was organized by the Association of Private Tourism Agencies of Uzbekistan (APTА) as part of the USAID Future Growth Initiative Project.

The event was attended by representatives of the APTA, Kyrgyz Community Based Tourism Association, the Tajik Community Based Tourism Association, the Pamir Ethnocultural Tourism Association , the Union of Community Based Tourism of the Murghab District (Tajikistan), Union of Community Based Tourism of Khatlon region (Tajikistan) and Zerafshan Tourism Council (Tajikistan).

Within the framework of the round table, APTA specialist - Tourism Development Issues Advisor Frank Ludwig made a presentation "Tour offers for combined CBT tours in the border regions of Uzbekistan with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan." During the presentation, the participants were provided with information on the possible directions of combined CBT tours, the tourism potential of the regions of Uzbekistan in the formation of combined CBT tours, etc.

Also, a presentation on the development of combined CBT tours was made by the representative of the Kyrgyz Community Based Tourism Association  - Project Manager Ashyrkulov Kuban.
 
At the end of the event, the participants discussed the problems of development and promotion of cross-border CBT tours in Central Asia and put forward proposals for their solution.
